The two men were leaving the Jacksonville International airport just after 11 a.m. on Tuesday.

They were driving a bread delivery truck. It should have been a normal day.

Instead it was their last.

42-year old Paul Thompson was a passenger in the delivery truck driven by 22-year old Kennard Montford.

As the two men travelled southbound, just north of Duval Road, the truck began drifting off the median, scraping a light pole and then on into the woods.

Thompson died at the scene and Montford was taken to Shands-Jacksonville Medical Center where he died a short time later.

No one understands why the truck drifted off the road.

"Not sure if the driver may have been having some kind of medical condition that caused him to lose control, the passenger may have tried to grab the wheel and just lost control," said FHP Lt. Bill Leeper.

Traffic was blocked around the time for a full hour.

We'll never know what the outcome of that accident might have been if the men were wearing their seatbelts. Neither one was.
