DaimlerChrysler is recalling 270,958 minivans in the United States to fix faulty air bag sensors. Corrosion may be causing some air bags not to deploy when needed.

Those on the list are the 2005 Town and Country and Dodge Caravan minivans. Check the company's website and put in your vin number to see if your vehicle is affected.

The problem seems to be pervasive in states that use large amounts of salt on the roads to de-ice in the winter.

Obviously salt on the roads is not a huge problem in Jacksonville, but many of you may be riding in vans that come or go north during the winter.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is urging the recall, which these days they call "campaigns" less the poor car companies suffer any tarnished reputation.

"Sensors with brass bushings may corrode and crack allowing water to enter the sensor, causing it to fail, illuminating the air bag warning light," NHTSA said.

DaimlerChrysler shares are up slightly despite the news.
