It took police only a few hours, but a man accused of killing a motorcyclist in a Northside hit-and-run has been arrested.

21-year old Jimmie Turner was, according to police, driving his pickup truck down Basiden Road Monday night. According to the official report, he veered into the oncoming lane and hit 56-year old Charles Sweezer and then took off. Sweezer was taken to the hospital but did not survive.

With the help of witnesses, it didn't take police long to make an arrest.

Witness Bryan Palmer, 20, told the Times-Union he saw the truck's driver look at the victim before driving away.
"The driver actually turned around," Palmer said. "He stuck his head out the window. He looked at the bike first, then met eyes with me."
After that, Palmer said the driver sped off with a front tire deflated.

Turner is charged with causing an accident involving death and driving with a suspended license.
