This mother had the good sense to buckle her son into his car seat--before she got into a single car accident this morning.

No word on what caused the accident on Julington Creek Road around 9:15. For some reason the mother drove her Oldsmobile into a ditch and sustained life-threatening injuries.

This afternoon she was upgraded to serious condition which is an improvement.

The good news is that child safety restraints work. Her seven-month-old was unharmed.

Our good wishes are with her for a speedy recovery.
