You would hope that your children are safe while in day care. Apparently not.

In this case, the Kid’s Creations and More took the little kids, ages 1-4, on a field trip to Chuck E.  Cheese. Because they only have one van, they packed nearly 40 kids into a van that seats only 15. Kids were sitting on top of each other and on the floor, an incredibly unsafe situation.

Even in the best of situations a 15-passenger van is one of the most dangerous vehicles on the road. When you double up, it’s doubly dangerous.  An employee of the restaurant called authorities who called in the Department of Children and Families. They forced the day care center to get another van to transport children.

And there's more.  Only one driver had a learner’s permit. Another has a criminal record.

Now the center is facing having its license revoked. The director of the center said they were just waiting for more vans that were out getting gas.

When inspectors visited the premises, they found bugs and exposed sockets and unsafe furniture.    The agency says it doesn’t believe kids are safe in that facility which has 21 days to appeal.

This is extremely disturbing. This is inhumane, the way these children were treated,” DCF spokesman John Harrell said. “There will be fines and there will be action taken if children are put in danger. We’re not going to stand for this.”

Harrell said the day care center is not currently facing any criminal charges, however it could be fined.  Under Florida law you are required to have constant supervision over children too young to be responsible for themselves and that means seat belts- it's the law!  There is a good reason for that.
