It might have been a fun ride to Chuck E. Cheese for little 1-4 year-old toddlers, but the ride has ended in a Jacksonville day care center, Kids Creations and More receiving a notice of intent to have its license revoked.

The problem is a van meant for 15 had about 38 kids onboard. They were sitting on top of each other, sitting on the floor and standing, which was probably a lot of fun for the little kids, but a totally inappropriate excuse for child care.

And it’s unfortunate that 15-passenger vans, probably the least safe vehicle on the road are used to transport children, sports groups and church outings.

A watchful worker at the Chuck E. Cheese called the Department of Children and Families (DCF) as the kids got ready to head back to the center.   This is not the first problem for Kids Creations. A reporter at Channel 4 in Jacksonville was told by a DCF inspector that there were 22 violations found at the center earlier this month that include a broken crib, roaches and unsafe outdoor grounds.

And the only licensed van driver had a learner’s permit. The other driver had a criminal record of assault with a deadly weapon.

"Our first concern is the safety of all children.  If we feel children are not safe, then we have to take measures," said John Harrell, a spokesman for DCF.

The day care center has 21 days to appeal the decision.  #
