The mother of a teenage boy killed in a car wreck has been arrested for causing his death while drinking and driving.

31-year old Angela Harper has been taken into custody for the accident last April 18th. Harper was driving her son and five of his friends. Apparently she was the only one wearing a seat belt.  It was 2 a.m. when she drove on the ramp from Interstate-95 to I-295 in Jacksonville heading north and lost control of her 2001 Saturn hatchback.

She allegedly crossed two lanes of traffic and then hit a guardrail.  Jesse Harper was killed at the scene and five boys were thrown out of the car and hospitalized.

Harper’s blood alcohol level was legally over the limit at .11. Police were waiting for the toxicology results before arresting her. They have no idea why she would have had so many people in a small car, unsecured when she had been drinking.

Unfortunately, she'll have a long time to answer that question.
