For 17 years, Michael Gallagher has worked at the U.S. attorney's office helping prosecute those who violate the law. On Friday, the 50-year-old admitted his driving caused the death of a 23-year-old woman by driving too fast. He was sentenced to seven years in prison and five years probation.

In August, he pled guilty to vehicular manslaughter on the eve of his trial.

The accident happened in March 2006. Gallagher had left the Players Championship and was traveling in excess of 80-miles per hour on Ponte Vedra Boulevard. He rear-ended a 2006 Chevrolet Tahoe in which 23-year old Cody Hastings was a passenger. Her 30-year old fiance was driving. He was unhurt but Hastings was ejected from the car and died two day later at Shands-Jacksonville Medical Center.

Gallagher was not hurt. At his sentencing Gallagher said, "It will be with me for the rest of my life." He could have received up to 15 years in prison.
