We've mentioned here a few times that drinking and driving don't mix.

You don't need much more proof than the story of this 37-year-old who died behind the wheel after police say he was drinking.

Scott Stanley Mortgomery and a friend were driving north on Lem Turned Road. He lost control of his 1994 car, a Chevy Corvette and according to FHP hit a culvert, then two utility poles, overturned and the vehicle was thrown into the air landing upside down.

Montgomery, who was not wearing his seat belt was taken to Shands Jacksonville where he died.

His passenger was wearing a seat belt and 28-year-old John D. Mostyn was taken to Shands in serious condition.FHP says alcohol was involved with the crash that did not involve any other vehicle.

The auto accident happened about 1 a.m. Saturday morning near the airport.
