It happened Tuesday afternoon in Putnam County.

A semi, driven by 35-year old Frank Browning of Lawtey, was heading west on SR 100. He came upon another tractor-trailer, but this one had stopped in the road in front of him.

FHP reports that for some reason Browning failed to slow down in time and hit the rig in front of him. Browning was killed at the scene while the other driver was not hurt.

Meanwhile about 20 gallons of chlorine spilled out onto State Road 100 and closed it to traffic from 4:30 pm to 9pm while a haz mat team cleaned up the spill..

What's particularly interesting about this story are the comments below from truckers mostly and from people who drive next to them on the road. Obviously there is a lot of animosity toward big-rig drivers. But truckers in response make very good points for everyone on the road to understand about how little visibility they actually have, especially when drivers cut them off or drive right in front of their cab.

Worth the read.
