Three killed in crash

An automobile crash on Wednesday took the lives of three Middleburg residences and injures three more in a three-vehicle collision.

According to the Florida Highway patrol, Jeffrey A. Spear was driving a 2005 Nissan, southbound on Country Road 215 when his vehicle struck a 2003 Chevrolet Avalanche driven by Edward Abruscato. Mr. Abruscato had failed to stop at an intersection of the roadway. Upon impact the vehicles rotated into the southbound land and were hit by John Spears.

Killed at the scene was Jeffrey A. Spear, 42, Katie L. Ray, 16; and Christinna Spear 7. John Spear, 27 was taken to Shands hospital at Starke. Edward Abruscato, 40, Kristen Abruscato 16, and Keegham Spear 11, were taken to Shands Jacksonville and are listed to have serious injuries. The driver of the third vehicle Vincent Swada suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene

Charges are pending against Mr. Abruscato

Middleburg is a small residential community and this vehicle accident which resulted in the loss of lives and injury to four other residence was felt throughout the entire community.
