Truck Stuck Under Overpass

A portion of a downtown Jacksonville underpass was closed Wednesday after a semi-truck got stuck because it was too tall.

The Forest Street area was closed for about seven hours under the I-95 overpass when the truck exited I-95 southbound and made a left turn onto Forest St.

Unfortunately the driver missed the sign that said the clearance was 13-feet and three inches. Fortunately the driver was not hurt when his semi hit the overpass and became stuck. He was however, cited for a violation of height restrictions.

The Department of Transportation had planned to raise that particular overpass to a height of more than 17-feet as part of a $150 million road improvement project to be completed next year. Guess this work just got started a little early.
