Charges are pending against a motorcyclist who sped up on the back of a woman’s car causing her to lose control and die in a rollover.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol 32-year-old Vanessa Parker Sinclair, who was eight months pregnant, was on I-95 near the intersection of State Road A1A in Nassau County north of Jacksonville around 3 pm last Saturday.

A motorcycle ridden by Jen Yung Lee, 22, of Savannah, Georgia, came up quickly on her rear bumper. Witnesses say he was in a race with his buddy.

Sinclair tried to get over from the middle lane to the right lane to get out of his way - a normal reaction for most people, however about the same time the motorcycle was trying to pass her on the right. That’s when Sinclair saw what was happening and cut her Chevrolet back to the middle lane then lost control of the car which flipped onto the right shoulder. Sinclair was wearing her seat belt but was pronounced dead at the scene as was her 8-month old fetus.

Her niece, 9, was airlifted to Shands – Jacksonville Medical Center in serious condition. Two children of Sinclair’s were also in the car but were not serious injured. A witness says she came upon the car to help and can’t get the sound of the nine-year-old sobbing out of her mind.

As for the motorcyclist – Lee’s motorcycle overturned and he broke his leg but was listed in fair condition.

"It's very sad," Leeper said. "Here you have someone riding a motorcycle very aggressively, riding in and out of traffic, driving too fast and ... someone was killed as a result of that," Leeper said to Channel 4.

Reckless driving, passing on the right, vehicular homicide are just some of the charges that Lee could be charged with unless investigators find there was no excessive speed.

Ms. Sinclair was trying to avoid an accident, which is understandable. Experts advise you to stay in your own lane because you can never predict what judgment someone (without good judgment) is going to show going 100 miles per hour.

Let him get around you, not you try to second guess him. Police will put together the accident and determine if excess speed and reckless driving caused this accident. All of that hindsight is 20/20.

Several children are without their mother. Our sympathies go out to them and we hope the family finds some justice in a court of law. #
