A comment on Florida Fire Marshall Suspects Chinese Drywall Could Be Flammable

And how many months will it take to get this answer? We have been waiting months for the CPSC to give us some answers while homeowners have to make difficult decisions on whether they stay in these 'possibly unsafe' homes or move out and incur the expense of two homes and possible foreclosure before the government can give us any answers!

A comment on Floridians Receive Confirmation of Defective Chinese-Made Wallboard

Nancy Nord wasn't removed. Get your facts straight.

1) Obama simply named the person he wanted to run the CPSC -- which was nothing more than part of the nomination process that occurs with every change of presidential administrations.

2) Nord isn't leaving the commission. She'll still be a commissioner until 2012 when her term expires.

A comment on Can Mold Kill? Parents Say Yes and File Lawsuit Against Hospital

Hospitals are under all sorts of construction or renovation all the time and there are a ton of requirements to meet to avoid this exact situation. Infection control needs to be involved from day one in order to protect patients. This blog post (More ... ) talks a little bit about the necessary steps infection preventionists can take. There is also an audio this month covering this exact topic.

A comment on New Pool Drain Covers Mandated Nationwide By Friday

This legislation has caught a lot of pool operators in a bind because the new drain covers were not widely available until late October. To replace them, the operators need to incur costs of thousands of dollars to drain the pools in order to perform the work.

If you are a pool operator, please visit this site:

and rent an underwater air powered hammer drill that can help you become compliant with a lot less difficulty and expense. There are thousands of pools that will probably not make the 12/19 deadline.

A comment on Raising the Tax On Cigarettes - It's About Time

A raised tax on cigarettes, especially almost tripling the present tax, will NOT make me stop smoking. However, it WILL cause me more of a financial hardship that I and fellow Floridians are experiencing!

Enough already!

A comment on Botox Lawsuit Filed For Unapproved Uses

Please do some research and get your facts straight. Botox is NOT FDA approved to treat migraines as you state in your article. It is an off-label use for migraines and to treat hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating) of the hands and feet. It is approved for underarm hyperhidrosis however, as well as some neurological and muscle disorders.
Thank you
Perry Solomon,MD

Dr. Solomon- You are absolutely correct and a "Not approved" was omitted before the "treating migraines" was written.... Thanks for catching that. BTW- readers should know that not only is botox not approved for migraines, but the lip lines around the mouth, to treat cerebral palsy and neck and shoulder pain. It is approved for that furrow between the eyes that some of us have... ! Thanks for keeping us straight!
