A comment on Headphones, Pedestrians and Railroad Tracks Don't Mix

I agree with the safety advice and actually looked at this topic from the Minnesota side today, but I still would make sure that the cases were looked at closely before it was assumed that what the railroad said happened, really did happen. In the Litchfield case, they only found what they say was the persons player near the scene.

A comment on What Happened Before Man Jumped Off The Carnival Sensation

Between the jurisdictional, statute of limitations and fine print issues people really need to turn to someone that really knows what they are doing. Very sad story that he got to that point in his life.

A comment on Two Federal Investigations Into Disney

This is so sad. My thoughts and prayers to this young mans family. Disney needs to concentrate on making safety first & foremost in running that place. This is the second accident in less than a month apart..How much is it going to take before someone does something to place a tighter reign on these theme parks? How many more must die? What if this train had been full of people, of course it doesn't say if the monorail was empty or had passengers on it at the time of accident. Disney & other theme parks are way to tight lipped about what goes on in them. .

A comment on NTSB Investigation Into Flight That Killed Jacksonville Law Student

The Minimum total flight time requirement for obtaining an FAA Airline Transport Pilot certificate (required for a person to be the captain of an airliner) is 1500 hours. Therefore the statement that the total flight time of both pilots combined was less that 1000 hours is nonsense. The bare minimum flight time to obtain a commercial license with instrument and multi-engine ratings is 250 hours so the co-pilot had to have at least that much flight time. So, if both pilots stepped into the cockpit of that aircraft the day they obtained the minimum requirement their total time would be 1750 hours. Their combined flight time in that type of aircraft may have been less than 1000 hours but not their combined total time.

A comment on Texting Truck Driver Arresting After Hitting School Bus

Hawaii is considering banning text messaging while driving. A new invention out of the University of Utah called "Key2SafeDriving" is an automobile ignition key that blocks cell phone use while driving. See "Driving And Talking On Cell Phones Blocked By New Ignition Keys" at More ...
We should all send our thoughts to the family of do something for the tragic loss of life of 13 year old Frances Schee who lost her life. Then we should support efforts to stop people from using cell phones and driving. This is an epidemic that is growing. Thanks for the information!

A comment on School Bus Driver Kicks Kids Off

Actually, 60,000 is the approximate number of school buses that First Student runs in the U.S. and Canada combined. It's more like 50,000 in the U.S. and 10,000 in Canada. This is from School Bus Fleet magazine.
