School officials aren't fooling around when it comes to copy-cat threats following the massacre at Virginia Tech.
A 14-year-old high school student from Bartram Trail has been arrested after he allegedly threatened to kill 100 people.

The student is alleged to have sent the threat via e-mail to a female friend.
He said he planned to best the 33 killed last week at Virginia Tech. Luckily the girl's mother was thinking and contacted law enforcement.

It appears this might have been a hollow threat in that a search of his home found nothing that could be used for a mass killing.

This is a good time to remind our young that there is nothing funny or amusing about the worst mass killing on a campus in U.S. history. Time for a little sensitivity lesson, not to mention just basic smarts.

Too often our young people who have been innundated with celebrity-saturated media since they were small, can't distinguish between notoriety and celebrity. A mass killing would put you on the cover of Time Magazine, as it did with John Hinkley who tried to kill President Reagan in 1980. For someone hungry for attention, this type of notoriety might suffice and that is a sad statement.
